Welcome to YogaSpace!
New students are always welcome to join our classes at any time.
We are friendly, experienced teachers and will make you very welcome, even if it is your first ever class. See below for our top tips:
Starting a Yoga or Pilates class
- Beginners are welcome to all our classes.
- See our guide to choosing a new class.
- Our supportive teachers will help you get going and our small classes will ensure you get personal instruction.
- We recommend starting slowly and taking easier options in a class until you feel more confident or are used to the class.
- Remember experience isn't needed and no need to feel self-conscious.
- We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes early for your first class to settle in if possible.
- Mention you are a beginner to your teacher if you haven't tried it before and we'll be sure to get you started with enough instruction to feel the benefits right away.
- You don't have to start at the beginning of a term, you can come at any time.
- Wear comfy clothes that let you move freely (leggings/t-shirts etc.)
- Yoga mats and blocks are provided free of charge.
- Payment is made to the teacher either on the day (cash or cheque) or in advance to book a space for a term.
- Try to find a class time that suits your schedule that you can make regularly to really feel the benefits of regular practice.
- Feel free to get in touch if you have more questions.

Starting private yoga lessons or yoga therapy
The first free consultation with the teacher will be spent discussing your needs, interests and aims. Private yoga lessons are available at a range of times at the Bristol Yoga Space studio. See more information in Private lessons.
Yoga and special needs
Please inform the teacher before the yoga class begins of any special health conditions or injuries you may have. Some health conditions may be best addressed in a private yoga lesson.
What to bring to a class
We provide yoga mats and blocks free of charge. It is recommended to practice in bare feet, and wear clothes that you can move in comfortably.
