YogaSpace supports excellent quality yoga teaching, providing friendly, welcoming and inspiring classes that are beneficial for a wide range of students.
We teach in a beautiful, simple space dedicated to practices for personal development and wellbeing. We support the yoga teachers who work here and offer the option of mentoring to help you develop as a teacher.
We teach based on the traditions of Krishnamacharya and Desikachar. If you have studied these traditions then we would love to hear from you. See our approach to teaching to find out more >
We value
making every yoga class an enjoyable experience, being safe and beneficial for all those who attend.
a supportive approach to teaching. We want our students to get the most from their classes with us, whatever their ability. Our classes are inclusive and supportive.
adapting the practices to suit our western culture and our western bodies and lifestyles. Some aspects of yoga are less applicable to modern day life or only suitable for certain practitioners who have a well established daily yoga practice. Group classes, especially those that include drop-in participants, are not the right environment for some more difficult or risky yoga practices or postures and should be respected and preserved for 121 teaching or extended workshop settings. At Bristol YogaSpace we understand that many people benefit from adapted postures that allow them to achieve greater benefit. (No shoulder stands to warm up please.).
outstanding teacher training. All of us have at least 2 years training and often we have 4 years or more training. We value the accreditation by the British Wheel of Yoga which maintains excellent standards of yoga training, Many Bristol yoga teachers have only received a very limited, short few weeks or months teacher training course which we hope is the beginning of their teaching journey and that they develop their knowledge and skill with further training..
an ongoing commitment to professional training and continually developing our teaching skills.
feedback from our students. We occasionally invite anonymous feedback from students to find out how we are doing and to keep our classes the best they can be.
