Tips for getting started

​Choose one of our introductory offers book your class.
Our classes are small and personalised, so we will work with you to help you find the right starting point, and then help your practice develop. Book here >

Once booked in, you'll receive a confirmation email right away with everything you need to know.

Our classes are suitable for most, no matter what your level of fitness and mobility, experience or body type. Ring if your unsure, or you could start with the Gentle Yoga class or a 1:1 session. 
Each class has a lovely mix of beginners to experienced practitioners so you will feel right at home.

Simply let the teacher know if you are a beginner and about any health issues or injuries before the class starts. You are welcome to ring/email and chat first. 

​All our classes are small so we can ensure you get the guidance you need to get started enjoyably and safely. We will add layers of instruction, techniques and suitable challenges when you feel ready and you are always encouraged to work at your own pace. This is a friendly, non-competitive space where everyone is welcome. 

​There are no requirements for physical ability - we can adapt the practice to anyone who wants to learn. If your unsure, get in touch, sometimes a 1:1 session is a better starting point for you. 

Helpful info

Do I need to book?
We recommend you book online before you come to reserve your space as we do have a cap of 12 per class.

What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. No special kit needed. 


When should I arrive?
Please aim to arrive 10 minutes before the start of the yoga class, especially if it is your first class. Please don't arrive late to the studio or you might find the door locked. 


I'm a beginner to yoga, is that okay?
Yes! We teach in small personalise groups and beginners are welcome to start at any time. Please come 10 mins prior to the class start time and let the teacher know you are new to Yoga. They will give you a few pointers to help you get started. 


Do I need to come each week?
Coming weekly and getting to know your teacher and letting them get to know you will help you gain more from your practice. A teacher who knows you can help you along the way. At least weekly practice is suggested. ​ 


How should I pay?
Book online through our booking system or directly to the teacher in advance via bank transfer. If you need to pay in cash, ring us first and check that there is a space free and bring exact change please. 


What if I have an injury or health issue?
If you have any health concerns or injuries yoga can be very helpful when carefully practiced. Sometimes modification of the practices is required to ensure it is safe. All of our teachers are experienced at working with a wide range of health issues.

If your unsure, please chat to the yoga teacher in advance of coming, simply click on the teachers name to get a link to their contact info.

At Bristol YogaSpace all of the yoga teachers specialise in the therapeutic application of yoga. Health limitations can be accommodated as long as we know about them in advance and can make the time to work with you. Sometimes a group class isn't an ideal starting point and private lessons might be recommended initially. Or a quieter class where we can work with you more individually. This would
 help get you started with your practice and explore ways of moving and practicing that suit you.  



Can I make up missed classes that I've paid for?
You can change your booking up to 24-hours ahead of the class time if you book the sessions individually using the online booking system. If you have a term booking, let the teacher know ahead of time so that your space can be offered to someone else and if we can we will offer you a studio replacement. Space is limited so online spaces are always available if in-person is full. Or you can get a recording of the week's class for you to do online. 
Sorry we can't carry over missed classes to the next term. 



Do I need a yoga mat? 
We have plenty for you to use. Many people prefer to bring along there own.  


Do you have space to get changed?
Yes we have loos you can change in.

Personal belongings
We have space to bring your valuables into the studio with you. Please turn off all phones (no sound and not on vibrate). If you do leave anything at the studio, please let us know within a month so that we can hold on to it for you. We donate unclaimed items to charity from time to time. 


Where can I park my car?
We have a small car park for 5-6 cars and easy on-street parking in the surrounding streets. 


Where can I park my bike?
We have plenty of bike parking at the studio with security lighting.
