Yoga classes with Lynette run in terms to support familiarity with practice and gain full benefit. When there is space, you are welcome to come along and try the class before joining the term.. Let's chat before you come if possible. If joining part way through, or if you have limited experience, it would be helpful to have a 121 lesson to learn the foundations of practice and get more out of the group classes.
The classes with me are suitable for all levels of fitness and mobility with modifications offered to those who would benefit from them. The classes will help you develop strength, mobility, stamina and a calm mind.
Each term we work progressively through a new theme, starting with the foundations and developing over the term. We work with body movements, breath and focus and the classes have a meditative attitude throughout. We use breathing techniques and sometimes sound or chanting to develop strength of breath and focus.
The viniyoga approach to yoga practice accommodates difference in experience, age, mobility, flexibility and fitness, the classes are kept small to enable this approach to practice.
"Lynette has helped me to continue with my yoga practice in spite of a long term knee problem. She is inventive and knowledgeable in suggesting ways of adapting poses." Sally
Yoga background and training I have been teaching yoga since the 1980s, completing a four-year teacher training programme with Paul Harvey in 1996, a course accredited by the British Wheel of Yoga. I also completed an advanced further studies programme in 2007. I continue teaching yoga in the viniyoga tradition following the teachings of Krishnamacharya and his students.
My work as an actress and as Head of Voice at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School used yoga and voice work together using the principles of viniyoga (which the students named Voga!). I have taught weekly viniyoga classes on Princes Place since it first opened in 1998. Find out about the other yoga teachers at Yoga Space >
